Happy New Year.

I am now down to about 20 Russians, have also aquired a few interesting Non-Russians,and amazingly an old battered and abused, 15j Sturmanskie, added to the collection, that i have repaired, and seems to have been overlooked on e.bay.I will add to the blog in the New Year.
Just wanted to take the opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year in 2013

  1. good call. I like the older Tags a lot myself, especially the late 60s early 70s ones. still, for the price of one of those one can have several, or even many old Russians. I like the 3133 strelas if I need a more robust watch. When things get really rough a Dirskie does the trick, and they are definitely under UKP30! Perfect beater watches, and they run really precise as well .

  2. Hello Ralf,
I bought the Tags, really,to have something to show for all the Russians i had sold,i did not want to see all of the money frittered away on ``bills`,unfortunately thats what,to all intents and purpose has happened.
You are of course correct, there is no better value than vintage Russians,i had just lost a bit of interest, but now things are improving,i have started to look for cheap Russians again.
Obviously,i will never be able to get the quality of watches i had before,Strelas are definately out of the question, but i will be looking for interesting Dirslie`s or there like.
    Best Regards,
