Czechoslovakian. Air Force Issue .Pobeda. Restoration.

Czechoslovakian Air Force Issue Pobrda. These watches are Rare and starting to command high prices at auction. The above picture shows final restoration.
The watch had been on ebay for some time, with a high buy it now price.. Unfortunately with the wrong case, movement and hands.
At this point i would like to thank Marian,[the seller],After i pointed out the only original Part was the dial, he made me an incredibly generous offer, which i accepted.
The pictures below are the restoration in pictures.
 Non original movement and case.
Non original Hand set and crown
 Donor 1st MWF Movement
Picture with dial removed from Franken movement. [two screws].
Czech Dial on donor movement. Pobeda dial by the side.
Dial attached to correct movement with correct hands mounted.

Back to picture one. This watch shows all of its use and patina and many years of its history plastered all over its dial,. A military watch, just by its raison d`etre should show some form of wear, this one has obviously had a very hard life.Great to bring it back to its original spec.

Great addition to the collection.

Shturmanskie 15j. light Restoration.

   Watch before Reluming.
 Hands and crystal dismounted .
Hands mounted on Tooth pick, ready for reluming.
A lake of lume...Very difficult to get correct shade. I actually started with two tiny amounts.
Hands relumed and remounted. crystal off.

Finished article. Quite pleased with the end result.

As promised another light restoration on a 15j Shturmanskie as issued to Gagarin.
Really is a particularly well preserved example. An excellent addition to the collection.

15j Shturmanskie.

15j Shturmanskie. As Issued at flight schools in the Soviet Union. I can never resist a Shturmanskie, particularly in this condition. Very lucky to purchase it of a seller from Ukraine, new to me.

This particular watch, is running very sweetly and was issued in 3rd Q 1953.
The dial has the sparkly type texture, which is correct. The early 15j Shturmanskies [49/50] had the "flat" dial. As of course, did all of the 17j variant.

I will be giving the watch a very light restoration, [re luming hands]. I am going to keep the central seconds hand, as it is. I have seen to many now, including Tammo`s original discourse, with the hand unpainted.

I will update when finished.

As a matter of interest, i will be undertaking a much more comprehensive restoration, of an uncommon Pobeda. When i receive the relevant parts i will commission  a photographic record.

Rare Vostok Precision. 22j. ["Export"].

Rare. Vostok Precision, 22j. "Export".

Firstly, i would like to thank Yevgen. For another seamless deal. We have had many pleasant transactions over the years.[he even included a spare crown, because he was not happy with the one on the watch, free of charge.].

I am sure it is well known by now, of my wish to re acquire, some of the rarer Vostok precision types. They can still be found, relatively cheaply, harder to find in decent untouched condition, though.

This particular model does not appear often , it would have been manufactured in the late 60`s. Keeps great time and comes with a charming inscription.

You will note i have put Export in exclamation marks. I think the term is nonsense in conjunction with the Russian watch Industry. I think batches were sent out on a need to supply basis. The need for foreign currency was the main driver.

Vostok 300m Tonneau, With New Boots.

Vostok 300m Tonneau, with new Boots.
Just bought this one piece leather strap, to put on the Tonneau. A very difficult watch to get "right".
The main problem being, i don`t like metal straps....which does tend to limit my options somewhat.

Supremely comfortable to wear, if not as, aesthetically pleasing as i would like.

Couple of new additions coming soon.

Rare 1st MWF Poljus "Expedition" 17j Watch

Rare 1st MWF Poljus, 17j watch.
Just received this rare Poljus, in beautiful condition, Keeping perfect time.
Once again, i would like thank Boris [Koutouzoff],for agreeing to do a deal on another quite stunning watch from his excellent collection. I wish i could afford to buy them all..

The strap Boris sent with the watch was an added bonus and compliments the watch perfectly.

I have put expedition watch in quotation marks, as there is some anecdotal evidence, that they were used on expeditions, they certainly have an unusual construction having anti magnetic shields, both front and back, suggesting some sort of tool watch.

A great addition to the collection.

Cyrillic Poljot Cal ;3017 [Strela].

Just received this lovely early Cyrillic Strela, Minute Dial. From Boris.
Beautiful watch, running seamlessly.
I much prefer these elegant early 3017`s, compared to the later 3133`s.
They were produced during the very pinnacle of Russian watch making and design.
Many Thanks Boris.

Extremely Rare. Zarja Jump Hour Watch

Extremely Rare. Zarja Jump Hour, Cal`;2206.Pensa Movement.

Only 1500 of these watches were ever produced.[Possibly less]. One of the reasons they are so vanishingly rare is because they are very delicate, even in general setting operation. And are extremely difficult to repair.

The movement has a strangely constructed dust cover. I have not shown pictures of the movement, as i don`t want to disturb it to much. In fact, this is one of the few watches in my collection, i do not intend to wear, because of its vulnerability.

The watch, itself, is in simply stunning condition, and running and setting perfectly.
I must thank ,once again, Slava for a seamless deal, one of many over the years

An important addition, to the cpllection.

Rare "Military" Vostok Precision. Restored.

Rare. Vostok Precision "Military" Watch. [i use the term, military, very loosely, i have no evidence, this type was ever Military issue].
I bought this watch, many months ago.I took a gamble on doing a restoration on it, because this type of precision, is so difficult to find in good condition.
It was not running and had the wrong hand set on. It has proved incredibly difficult to find the correct hands.
Luckily, last week a Franken Precision appeared with an original set of hands on, unfortunately they had been repainted black [very poorly]!! [picture below].
I dismounted the hands and scraped the black paint off, with difficulty. [picture below]
I mounted the stripped and de lumed hands, [upside down],on a toothpick, mixed up some vintage lume, [again difficult to achieve correct colour] and applied to hands using an oiler. [picture below]
We are then back to the first picture with lume applied and hands remounted, with watch running.
I am quite happy with the result. Unfortunately, during the paint removal process, i damaged the brass lacquer on the hands, but, i think they are still acceptable.
Very pleased to have this particular model, back in the collection again.
